Publisher's Summary
The number-one New York Times best-selling author of Infected delivers medieval carnage as a pre-industrial society fights extinction at the hands of a massive infestation of Xenomorphs.
Ataegina was an isolated world of medieval castles, varied cultures, and conquests, vibrant until the demons rose and spread relentless destruction. Swarms of lethal creatures with black husks, murderous claws, barbed tails, and dreaded “tooth-tongues” raged through the lowlands, killing 90 percent of the planet’s population. Terrified survivors fled to hidden mountain keeps where they eke out a meager existence. When a trio of young warriors discovers a new weapon, they see a chance to end this curse. To save humanity, the trio must fight their way to the tunnels of Black Smoke Mountain - the lair of the mythical Demon Mother.

Fresh take
Great take on an old story, in a very different setting and with a well developed believable society. Was a great listen and well worth the purchase. Thankyou!

Great listen
Phalanx was a joy to listen to, it had a great plot, strong characters (one is very grating, cringey and annoying but grows on you) and an enthralling world.
one of the most unique takes on the alien franchise I've seen and I will definitely follow the authors other work.
the themes of equality can be a bit ham fisted at times but are handled fine overall and don't detract in the clunkier moments

Exciting and entertaining to the end !
Glad i didn’t take notice of the nameless 2 star reviews. sure this book is different to the series but that’s ok as the story is interesting in its own unique way. With detailed clear impressions of what the author is visualising and the magnificent narrator it puts you clearly in the picture. Definitely worth a listen.

An Alien saga not in space
It's very refreshing to listen to a new take on the Alien franchise. Phalanx brings you to a new world with our common threat. The characters and story is engaging and well worth the listen.
Like all the Alien films, Phalanx main lead is a female, which is a great nod to our beloved Ellen Ripley.
My only gripe, is the notion of the occasional and obvious mentioning of a "female leader".
I understand writers like to throw in some social narratives in their stories, but I feel like Aliens has never had to, and it's been well accepted because of that.
I was happy to overlook these minor pushes, and soaked up every second of this story.
The narrator did a wonderful job capturing the world, characters and events.

The only Alien novel I've listened to twice
A great, fresh take, completely independent of The Company, and set in a significantly different world to what we're used to. It doesn't match up to any of the other novels in any way, but it's well worth the time for any Alien fan.
The way he's set it up, I'm left wanting to know more of their history and what's to come next for them. I really hope he's got more stories to come in this world he's created.

well worth it
takes a little while to gel
but once the scenario is lay'd out it gets moving quick
the only alien story that successfully finds a true weapon against impregnation
and a worthy weapon in the fight against the exenomorph beast
