Publisher's Summary
Audible is bringing William Gibson’s uncovered Alien III script to life in audio for the first time, to mark the 40th Anniversary of the birth of the Alien franchise.
Alongside a full cast, Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen reprise their iconic roles as Corporal Hicks and Bishop from the 1986 film Aliens.
Father of cyberpunk William Gibson’s original script for Alien III, written in 1987 as a sequel to Aliens, never made it to our screens, although it went on to achieve cult status among fans as the third instalment that might have been after being leaked online.
This terrifying, cinematic multicast dramatisation - directed by the multi-award-winning Dirk Maggs - is the chance to experience William Gibson’s untold story and its terrifying, claustrophobic and dark encounters between humans and aliens, as a completely immersive audio experience.
The story begins with the Sulaco on its return journey from LV-426. On board the military ship are the cryogenically frozen skeleton crew of that film’s survivors: Ripley, Hicks, Newt and Bishop.
We travel aboard and hear an alarm blare. Our heroes are no longer alone....
Starring: Tom Alexander, Barbara Barnes, Michael Biehn, Cliff Chapman, Samantha Coughlan, Ben Cura, Dar Dash, Harry Ditson, Mairead Doherty, Lance Henriksen, Graham Hoadly, Lorelei King, Laurel Lefkow, Martin McDougall, Sarah Pitard, Michael Roberts, David Seddon, Andrew James Spooner, Siri Steinmo, Dai Tabuchi, Keith Wickham, Rebecca Yeo.

The sequel that should have happened.
It is genuinely mind boggling to think this wasn’t seen as viable third act in the alien saga. Admittedly Ripley doesn’t feature but a slick and simple rewrite of one character could have amended that issue. It has everything from acknowledging the past journey of the characters right through to unleashing new and interesting incarnations of the alien. I am sure it was used as source material for both resurrection and Prometheus as certain aspects have been lifted. Such a shame, not that I hate the Alien 3 that made it to production, but rather that this opened the franchise to so much more interesting and real possibilities in future instalments. Great listen and highly recommend.

Immersive and engaging
A thrilling new path for the universe we know a love.
Left me we wondering why that wasn't the sequel we got.

Awesome, but too short... However a must have!!!
I enjoyed this and recommend it for any real fan of Aliens who felt ripped off by the way they went with the Alien3 movie.
I saw a few excerpts of the comics that came out previously for this and thought they were ok. I have had this in a word file for years now, and always wondered why they never chose it as the follow up film. Obviously when you hear it, you will perhaps understand why, I won't spoil you, but some of the plot points and ideas didn't really work post Aliens (I think anyway) however the story is great, and however much they destroyed the build up from Aliens when they eventually chose the dramatically different script and made poor David Fincher's much maligned project instead.
This story does lend itself to this kind of production and I liked the way they did it, and as I mention first up, the length was too short I felt for something like this, but it is a film script after all, and with the return of Michael Biehn and Lance Henrickisen as their respective characters, it makes up in spades.
Well worth it I feel and makes you enjoy it because those two are there.

LOVED IT
I’ve always loved the Alien franchise and this one fits in perfectly with the series. Absolutely loved the narrators who nailed the roles. Dramatic and chilling and fun at the same time. Definitely recommend if you live the other movies/audiobooks.

Cinema quality of the production and the first class quality of the narrators made the story a stand out
I was so involved in the tale that I didn’t want it to end and I am now going to buy more audiobooks in the series

The best audio drama ever
Nothing beats Alien 3, the entire production, SFX, Music, voice acting, and writing is beyond exceptional.

Arfirmative
Pretty fun alternative story line to the beloved franchise. Although I enjoyed it a lot and the spin of events, I can understand why this version may have been dropped from Hollywood. Although still a gripping story piece compared to the theatrical Alien 3 release.
Great voice acting, and a nostalgic blast hanging out with Hicks again. Definitely worth adding to your collection.
If you're a first time Alien Audible listener, I'd highly recommend the Alien Audible drama trilogy, starting with Sea of Sorrows or River of Pain.
Enjoy!

Amazing book and it needs a film
They need to make this into another movie.
Not hard to imagine what it'll look like on screen.

The movie we deserved
I have a complicated relationship with how the alien series turned out and the directions it has gone since James Cameron's Aliens.
William Gibson successfully captured the essence of the predecessor and crafted a compelling story with the remains. I am unsure of the decision to not include Ripley but at the time this script was written it might have been a reality with Sigourney Weavers schedule.
Pacing is well tuned, turns in the story are compelling. The introduction of the UPP adds a depth to the universe I never knew I wanted and explains so much of the back story of all the world building James Cameron did. Gibson sets up what would have eventually been akin to Prometheus and Covenent and the series would have been in much better hands going forward as such with this writing than it eventually did.
Listen to this for more than your curiosity of what a difference Alien 3 could have been. It's the difference the entire series could have been.
