Publisher's Summary
Craig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home, and a successful media career; a director of several companies and at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful and functioning professional man in spite of a ‘two-bottles-of-wine-a-night" drinking habit.
For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn't believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed. He tried countless ways to cut down; attempting ‘dry months’, banning himself from drinking spirits, only drinking at the weekend and special occasions (and found that it is amazing how even the smallest of event can suddenly become ‘special’).
All these 'willpower' based attempts to stop drinking failed (exactly as they were destined to do). Slowly he discovered the truth about alcohol addiction and one by one all the lies he had previously believed started to fall apart. For the first time he noticed that he genuinely didn’t want to drink anymore. In this book he will lead you though the same amazing process.
Craig is known around the world as "The Stop Drinking Expert" and many thousands of people just like you have quit drinking using his method. This updated edition of the best-selling Alcohol Lied to Me is new for 2014.
No need to declare yourself an alcoholic. A permanent cure, not a lifetime struggle. No group meetings or expensive rehab. No humiliation, no pain, and 100% no ‘will power’ required. Treats the source of the problem not the symptoms.

Easy to understand explanations of what alcohol is and does to your body.
Easy to understand and simple steps to follow. You do need to be honest with yourself and your drinking then use the steps to heal.

Logic and cold hard facts
I was very drawn in by what Craig had to say. He tackled this issue from a refreshing but very logical angle. It may not be everything you need in your quest to sober up but would definitely recommend.

Life changing
I’ve struggled with alcohol for a long time, Alcohol was my go-to stress relief, I could easily consume 2 bottles of wine every night..feel like crap the next morning, then by the afternoon be ready to crack open a bottle, crazy. I came across this book and thought I’d give it a go…i listened through it twice, half way through that second listen the light bulb went off!! Since then I haven’t had a drink and the best thing is…I don’t feel like having one!!!

Just what I needed
Absolutely loved this book. As somebody who was consuming 100+ standard drinks for the best part of a decade (and too much in the decade prior), I began listening to this audiobook in the first few days of my most recent attempt to give up the booze. I found that this book really has mentally prepared me for the challenges ahead. 29 days without the attractively packaged poison and counting!

Helpful and informative, oddly paced & laid out
The concept of spontaneous recovery is now available from various authors. I found this book helpful to reinforce the latter concept, but the content felt like it was pieced together quickly instead of a well planned and laid out piece of writing. If you're serious about sobriety, buy this book as part of a collection about recovery.

It did change the way I see alcohol. Very helpful.
This was very helpful for me as it explains very clearly how we've been conditioned to treat alcohol as an inseparable part of life despite being a strong and very harmful drug (for the society and the individuals). I think it can help many. Continuous references to family situations can be annoying for someone who doesn't conform/ agree /follow to the conventional life model
