About this listen
In all the games Matt has played, dungeons are places to raid, places you dream of conquering, but when the world is stripped of electricity, and the first mana-twisted beasts start to prowl, the games all come to an end....
Matt's just an ordinary guy, but when he's beaten, robbed, and left for dead, bleeding out at the bottom of a gully, it all has to change as he grasps frantically at his only chance for survival, coming as it does in the form of a glowing, dangerously pulsing light.
With his reality forever altered, Matt must quickly find a suitable place to deploy the Dungeon Core, fighting his way through the hundreds of people between him and safety, because if he doesn't do it soon, a Core Detonation will solve all of his problems for him....permanently.
Welcome to the New World.

great series, hidden gem, dungeon orientated
great character, realistic transition and back stabbing. annoying characters that would definitely exist in real life. the only gripe I had was the incessant sexual frustration. it was just too much for the genre. author might sport a fedora on the reg.

Enjoyable story, characters and world building
Kept me engaged the whole time with cool characters and stat sheet development. Listened to the whole series non-stop until it was done

great story lotta potential idiot lucky mc
great story
mc is an idiot and bullshit lucky
but still good idea and has potential
like he has magic yet he never uses it untill he almost dies
like when he fighting against some zombie thing he shoots bullets at an undead an misses alot instead of just burning it twice with his fire skill then sending his minions in instead he just has them fight and die pretty much
magic should be used first not last chance
wtf is the point of having massive damage if U only use it afterwards
save ya bullets
also mc always goes stupidly into fights by himself like some fking trained professional thinking i got this shit
and survives by bullshit

Written by a horny teenager.
As far as books go, its pretty solid. I don't care much for the style of combat in these books but it gets a bit better as time goes on. The narrator does take a bit of time to warm up to the series but is fine in this first book.
What I don't like is the near zero time between chapters and the prolonged repetition of bits of 'progress to next level' for every stat.
And by all that is hole-y, I swear the amount of sex jokes *thrust* in there is rather 'generously proportioned'. It's like the story was written by someone with the libido of a teen who just hit puberty full force.

Good Story
Firstly I don’t and never have played these types of games so it took a while to fully get the dungeons rules & dumps received. I almost regretted starting this but then action happened. I found some of the violence, particularly right at the beginning quite disturbing. I’m English so I know how awful some suburbs in extremely depressed areas are and it’s in these areas where violent mobs rule and vulnerable innocents have to live. So yes the raw start really ruffled my guts. Then I became intrigued so I stuck with it and finally couldn’t put it down until it was finished. It’s a clever mix of dungeons in a modern world along with supernatural themes, some of which truly gave me the shivers, a hero that doesn’t want to be and an unusual plot. I found the characters believable, even though I was occasionally cross with him for poor judgment. Why doesn’t he trust his gut instinct more? Anyway, I have to say I’m going to get all the books now. I really want to see where this story goes/ends. I’d definitely recommend. Good narration too.
