About this listen
Henry never realized he was special. Sure, he’s an engineer who served his country, but when the virus hit, he found himself alone in a nearly empty world.
That’s the key, though: nearly empty.
There’s no one left who has the technical know-how to make the world run again...except for Henry. For humanity to survive, he will have to rebuild society out of the motley crew of survivors. It might be impossible, but at the same time, Henry has always loved a challenge.

Polygamists dream but not for me
Probably should have read into the reviews a bit more. Whole lot of misogyny here making the storyline and character development pretty weak and simplistic. Got 3/4 of the way thru and then it was just a bit pathetic. Don't often quit but glad I didn't pay for it. (Sorry - just not my taste)

One man’s post apocalyptic fantasy
Good points: a fairly accurate description of what a post apocalyptic world would actually be like if a virus wiped out 99% of the world’s population.
Not so good points: Basically one man survives a extremely fast spreading Ebola type virus that has a 99% kill rate and is gone from the world in about a week.
First of all it’s just him, scary. Then he finds a beautiful young woman who is rather horny and wants little more than sex with the last man around. She has all the skills needed to supplement his few short falls. Another woman is also found who is attractive for her age but is taking care of some kids, she’s a doctor who obviously likes the hero but she’s not that into him.
A third woman who is as attractive as the first also wants him and his first girlfriend is fine with him having sex with the second woman and hints that she’s into multiple partners as long as he doesn’t leave her.
The writer finally adds some conflict, too little, too late and is successful in ending the conflict with minor injury to the protagonist who is quite the hero. A final antagonist is added at the end to give the writer somewhere to go for the predictable sequel.
Not my kind of book, the only redeeming thing is the description of what would happen if the world ended that quickly. For that reason alone I have increased my rating from 2 stars to 3. A good example of what a man (the writer) is actually thinking about when he thinks about being the great survivor at the end of the world.

good narrator but too much detail
I enjoy a good, detailed story but this one was too much on the explanatory side with weapons, cars and ammunition... ok, great, the main character was an ex military guy, but seriously did the author have to tell us every single gun detail that was used in the story. too much, so 2nd book won't be purchased. narrator had a good voice though.

Not bad
I enjoyed it. It's a simple enough premise with likeable characters. I've read a couple of other books by this author, so I wasn't shocked by the sex scenes. Get it while it's in the plus catalogue and you've lost nothing.

Well done Post Apocalyptic Poly Romance
This is a surprisingly well written Post Apocalyptic Fiction laced with polyamorous Romance. I liked that it maintained a positive outlook on the post SHTF situation portraying the survivors intact of their humanity, able to respond quickly and efficiently to their new reality. Our hero is a very sweet character and respectful to everybody alive or dead, given the situation I would gladly share him too. Contrary to other reviews I read, I didn't feel that this story was about a guy's harem fantasies at all. The poly relations developed naturally due to the overwhelming circumstances. And FYI, there is no woman on woman action or threesome [FMF] in this book. The story is really more about the immediate survival and community building of a rather small remnant of humanity. The narration was awesome too.

um written by a bloke for a bloke
yeah not my taste, I like that there is minimal violence and that at least the first few survivors don't just attack each other at first sight, but the single 30 something man building a harem of women including a teenager is just not my thing and everything going their way was a bit dull (at least for the first 1/2 of the book). being that the church was mentioned a few times in the first hour it wasn't what I expected. altogether very meh and I probably won't finish the story and certainly wouldn't listen to the next one.

Subpar and cringey at most, don’t bother
The performance was fine and I like the detail in some instances, but the writing and characters were bland and subpar at most. Which is a shame as the premise is quite interesting. I’m not sure why this is rated quite highly as the plot was predictable, the characters were one-dimensional and their skills extremely convenient, while the villain at the end was short-lived and anticlimactic. This is just a man’s extremely convenient post-apocalyptic harem fantasy where every hot lady is horny for him. It’s free in the catalogue but really, don’t bother. You’re not missing out on much.

A bit Mills & Boon for boys
Well, where to start. The story followed a line of thought but the content was basic. I felt that I was being taken on a shopping trip, and I hate shopping. By the time something happened I had lost interest. The little action was short lived. I found the book as a whole, boring. I didn’t like the characters. In fact, they were annoyingly unrealistic. The skills of the two main characters just happen to be in line with adapting to an apocalypse perfectly. Everything was a bit too convenient. Including the back stories. And how old was this guy? Add up the experience timeline. And add a cheerleader. Get out of here. Mills and Boons for guys. The language was elementary and at times cringe worthy. The only reason I finished the book was because I was listening while I was painting my fence. I could go on but… I wont continue the series.

Nothing more than a lonely male's fantasy
This novel is badly written, boring and derivative. If you're a male who fantasises about the end of the world so that he can meet the most unrealistic women (who of course aren't the jealous type) then I guess this is for you. For everyone else, spare yourself the cringe and skip it.
