About this listen

In a world reliant on technology, the bright flashes in the sky were just the beginning.

With the power gone, the UK falls into a state of panic. The ensuing anarchy is simply the warm-up act. Shaun Taylor is stranded far from home, far from a broken family he needs to make whole again, and he will do whatever it takes to get back to them. What would you do to get home? What would you do if the lights went out?

From the best-selling author of After It Happened and Toy Soldiers comes a new UK post-apocalyptic series.

Another solid effort

Devon C Ford has again delivered a post-apocalyptic book that makes sense within itself and has strong characters

Enjoyable Apoco drama

A nice change from the superhero survivor and guns everywhere meta of US sci-fi apocalypse lit.
Devon C Ford builds likeable and not impossible characters. The story goes at a good pace and the “what’s happening” grappling of the main characters provides great tension and atmosphere for the story.
The narrator was great. Very clear and not too silly with accents.

Start of another great series from DCF

Thoroughly enjoyable new book from Devon C. Ford who has returned to familiar Post Apocalyptic territory albeit with a completely different scenario to his marvelous After it Happened series. Strong character building and a well thought out storyline makes for a great read. Roll on book 2 !!

Had to listen to a bit everyday!

It is such a relief to read a title of this genre with a very engaging British accent, set in the UK! Yay! No disrespect to the likes of RC Bray but it just has to be done like this to work the way this one does. I thoroughly enjoyed the threads of the story, the characters, their plights and their wins/losses, it wasn’t trying to be anything too heavy and I appreciated the realistic impacts and responses of the people in such a disaster scenario without too much violence and shooting etc. it was well balanced with humour, humility and the pitfalls of human nature. Loved the trusty animal companions and very glad they didn’t have it too bad. I kept hoping they’d be ok… Fantastic narrator for this novel, I will look out for more from Kevin and of course bring on book 3! Well done to you both, a real treat.

Sensational

Fantastic story. Fast-paced plot. A real adventure with an exquisite build-up of tension. Well-written characters, great dialogue, and lots of scenes to visualise. I could even smell some places!
Fab narrator, loved his accents.
Highly recommended.
