Publisher's Summary

What happens when we die?

Ten percent of people whose hearts stop and then restart report near-death experiences. Stories of lights, tunnels and reunion with late loved ones have been relayed - and dismissed - since ancient times. But when Dr Bruce Greyson's patients started describing events that he simply could not dismiss, he began to investigate.

In After, he shares the scientific revelations of four decades of research into the dying process. He has become increasingly convinced that dying is less an ending than a transition, the threshold between one form of consciousness and another. Dr Greyson challenges us to consider what these lessons can teach us about the relationship between our brain and our mind, expanding our understanding of consciousness and of what it means to be human.

This audiobook includes three bonus interviews with the author.

What a transformative book

Through meditation I already went into the direction of exploring what’s outside of our brain and body. But what I’ve read here has transformed the way I think about many things. If I could recommend one book to read/listen to, it would be this book as it can have such a profound positive impact on people’s lives.

Revolutionary

This book helped me to ground and navigate my own experience. Anyone who is struggling with any kind of Spiritual Transformation brought about by NDE, OBE, or spiritual experiences that alter their world view and perspective will benefit from this work. It places what used to be considered mental disorders in the realm of 'real' world experience to be acknowledged and explored. Considering you are crazy and the fear of being ridiculed is scary. The changes in you can be difficult for you to integrate into your life especially when the loss of family members and friends who don't understand is also scary.
This book covers all perspectives and should be a reference for anyone who is touched by this phenomenon, experiencer or not.
Thankyou Dr. Greyson for bringing this book to the world.

One of them books to read in our livetimes before we go the other side. Also, most likely one of the best books I have ever read in my livetime! Thank you all for this masterpiece.

Interesting thought provoking but Repetitive.

I found the subject matter interesting. Well researched and thorough. The stories and the use of the words near death experience was repetitive

Well Researched

This book kept me interested in reading to the end as I grew curious as to where it was going to end. I feel though 'mind' and 'brain' needed to be separated more. they have a strong interlacing partnership and once they separate is where the body is left with the brain. Interesting hearing and learning the many researchers views. Thank you

Skeptic's scientific search for the truth

Throughout the book the author seeks understanding of the NDE. The telling of his research, peppered with real life examples and situations, make for captivating reading/listening.
Everything that science and medicine says they could be, after the author's thorough research, proves to only be symptoms of an NDE rather than a possible cause of it.
I would thoroughly recommend this book to sceptics, believers and experiencers alike. I binge listened over two days.

Was good but focused on story more than NDE's

I just wanted to hear the NDE stories from a few moments before they left their bodies.. and not a long intro into each person's life and unimportant things that had nothing to do with relating to the NDE's.. there was good NDE's told but way too much in between each story
