About this listen
Originally published in six volumes, which sold more than one million copies, Carl Sandburg’s Abraham Lincoln was praised as the most noteworthy historical biography of Sandburg’s generation. He later distilled this monumental work into one volume that critics and readers alike consider his greatest work of nonfiction, as well as the most distinguished, authoritative biography of Lincoln ever published.
Growing up in an Illinois prairie town, Sandburg listened to stories of old-timers who had known Lincoln. By the time this single-volume edition was competed, he had spent a lifetime studying, researching, and writing about our 16th president. His extraordinary portrait brings fully to life the country lawyer who would become one of the most influential and beloved presidents of the American republic. Additional information about the author can be found at: http://www.nps.gov/carl.

Abraham link review
It was okay and a harsh slog of a book to listen to, I sometimes wondered on how board I was, but it’s a book of people who really want to listen to the story.
The pre ordain years are the best part of the book, the war years where hard and full of harsh words

He belongs to the ages
This is an incredible story. I am not American but I am fascinated with its history. This book is an epic story of an amazing man. The narrator is perfect for the book which enhances the story. It is long and it has been an epic journey in itself to get to the end but I am better for it. To any Lincoln fan I highly recommend this book

Great history of a towering individual
No more relevant than today, this is an enthralling insight into a great man. Inspiring and worrying at the same time as the lessons learned from Lincoln’s statesmanship could be useful now.

Slow start, magnificent finish
Took me a bit to get oriented at first, but was an emotional finish. The narrator's voice really makes the latter drama come alive with a vivid picture of America's greatest president

Simply amazing
New to this style of dense biography, I found it a little slow to get into at the beginning. Soon however, I was gripped and thoroughly enjoyed the journey I was taken on. Beautifully crafted and highly recommended.
