About this listen
They began operations out of England in the spring of '43. They flew their Flying Fortresses almost daily against strategic targets in Europe in the name of freedom. Their astonishing courage and appalling losses earned them the name that resounds in the annals of aerial warfare and made the "Bloody Hundredth" a legend.
Harry H. Crosby—soon to be portrayed by Anthony Boyle in the miniseries Masters of the Air developed by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg—arrived with the very first crews, and left with the very last. After dealing with his fear and gaining in skill and confidence, he was promoted to Group Navigator, surviving hairbreadth escapes and eluding death while leading thirty-seven missions, some of them involving two thousand aircraft. Now, in a breathtaking and often humorous account, he takes us into the hearts and minds of these intrepid airmen to experience both the triumph and the white-knuckle terror of the war in the skies.

War from a navigators perspective.
I really enjoyed listening to this story, especially after watching 'masters of the air'. it is good to hear a wartime story from a navigators perspective. Great to hear from a member from the 100th BG.

A must read!
What an incredibly courageous, insightful and humble man. What he went through and survived in the 100th bombardment group is nothing short of miraculous hit much can be said for his incredible skill as a navigator. He skilfully articulated his aviation experiences in a way that is both rich in technical detail but still accessible snd very human to the lay person.
I feel like a better person after reading this autobiography. Couldn’t recommend it more, a must read!

Didn’t want it to end! After listening to Masters of the Air this is an amazing first person experience from Harry Crosby. It adds soooo much context to the MOTA book and the TV series! Must listen, he’s a wonderful writer.

Inside look at air combat
A brilliant insight into WW2 air combat from someone who was there… and wasn’t a pilot. Also a great look at life outside of the aircraft during the war. Very well narrated. Highly recommended!
