About this listen

He's in your home . . . and you don't even know it.

Not everything is as it seems in this sleepy Yorkshire village.

DI Drew Haskell is a no-nonsense detective recovering from a devastating personal loss. When a number of young people are found dead in a sleepy Yorkshire village, Haskell believes a murderer is on the loose. But his boss isn't so sure and won't authorize an investigation. Breaking the rules is Haskell's only chance at solving this case.

Teaming up with criminal profiler Harriet Quinn—the only other person who believes a murderer is at large—Haskell opens up a can of worms that triggers a deadly sequence of events.

Can they stop the killer before he finds another victim?

Slow start -- get's good

Very slow start but worth persevering. This is a good story--gripping second half. I'll definitely try book 2. i lopped off a star as i'm tired of crime thrillers where the good cops are treated like naughty school children by clueless bosses who shout, bully and don't listen. Also, the angsty personal relationship between Haskell and Quinn built quite well but had some annoying moments (Quinn's relationship with the doctor was ridiculous for a trained psychologist and the ending wasn't great).

Polly Lee is an acquired taste. She grew on me although her DI Haskell is so depressive he seems to lack energy and she over does the anger, which can feel quite draining as opposed to dramatic and propulsive. Also, why do some posh people pronounce suicide as See-u-icide?

Rubbish

Utter, complete rubbish. Dreadful, one dimensional characters that are incompetent in their chosen fields and unlikeable in most ways. Storyline is inconsistent and nonsense. The only thing worse is the stupendously overacted performance which only adds to the horror. Even as an ‘included with membership’ title I feel ripped off and loath myself for the time wasted in listening.
