About this listen

It was the ideal marriage of convenience...until they met.

Cassandra DeWitt has seen her husband only once - on their wedding day two years earlier - and this arrangement suits her perfectly. She has no interest in the rude, badly behaved man she married only to secure her inheritance. She certainly has no interest in his ban on her going to London. Why, he’ll never even know she is there.

Until he shows up in London too, and Cassandra finds herself sharing a house with the most infuriating man in England.

Joshua DeWitt has his life exactly how he wants it. He has no need of a wife disrupting everything, especially a wife intent on reforming his behavior. He certainly has no need of a wife who is intolerably amiable, insufferably reasonable...and irresistibly kissable.

As the unlikely couple team up to battle a malicious lawsuit and launch Cassandra’s wayward sister, passion flares between them. Soon the day must come for them to part...but what if one of them wants their marriage to become real?

Hilarious, heartrending, and hot, this standalone Regency romance tells the story of a marriage of convenience between opposites.

The best Regency Romance novel I’ve read!!

The author is AMAZING! Such a witty writer. Truely fabulous humour. And the build of love was perfection. The narrator is the best I’ve heard since Roslyn Landor. Perfect voices, perfect accents. I can not recommend this book highly enough!!

Sweet read

This was a sweet story with a few twist and turns, nothing too bad. Great characters great narration. lovely sweet romance. Enjoyable. Quite a few detailed sex scenes between husband and wife which was the only thing I didn't like.

Thank goodness for the Longhope Abbey series!

While I really enjoyed Julia Quinn's Bridgerton series, devoured Loretta Chase's Carsington Brothers series (with an honorable mention for Lord of Scoundrels) and of course have been completely obsessed with Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series - this Mia Vincy Longhope Abbey series is ABSOLUTELY my FAVOURITE.

So much comedy, banter, sizzle, love and intrigue, it's completely addictive and life-affirming. I adore the way Vincy manages to bring just the right amount of character depth and plot complexity with a fun and light, slightly ironic self-awareness. It's a perfect remedy to the dull monotony of real life! I've listened to all three in the series twice now and enjoy noticing more detail and interconnection every time.

The series is perfectly matched with Kate Reading's delicious narration, with her funny and endearing voices for each character, and her clever ability to seamlessly guide you through the difference between what is internalised and out-loud. Her pace, comic timing, ability to flip from one character to another in rapid succession and her unique English accent are a compelling and engaging mix.

Thank you Vincy and Reading!!! Can't wait for more!

Loved it!

This was my first exposure to Mia's writing. I thoroughly enjoyed this well-developed story and how her diverse characters were brought to life by excellent narration.

I look forward to listening the other books in this series and the rest of Mia's work. I recommend.

Marvellous!

Great story, lots of humour, and great narration. Main characters were very engaging.
It would have been good to have more dimension in the depiction of secondary characters - their actions and behaviour mostly seemed a bit flat, and somewhat random. Nevertheless, well-written and enjoyable.

Frustrating

I really didn't like this book despite it being pretty witty and funny at times.
The MMC was awful, and the FMC kept coming back. I really don't like reading long strings of chapters where the main characters aren't conscious of what they want or are too afraid to tell the other how they feel. All to create tension I guess? But it's really frustrating and boring. And then they have some kind of turning point where they immediately change? Its emotionally abusive and it's not romantic or erotic.
