About this listen
Continue Playing the Game? Yes / No
The Kingdom of Thera is a crossroads to many worlds and realities. Here a secret war between the gods plays out via their proxy mortal champions. These player-champions use all the augmented-reality interfaces and game mechanics that role-playing and video gamers know and love.
Join Hektor Saint-Savage, marine and martial artist extraordinaire; Morgana Nox, shape-shifting druid-thief and trickster; and the cantankerous dwarf Elmac Arguson as they punch, blast, stab, and slither their way through the second Hero of Thera novel.
Can they outwit, outfight, and outrun assassins? The Imperial Knight Champion of Chaos? Feisty gnomes with slide rules? A horde of a thousand inebriated simians?
There’s only one way to find out....
Eric Nylund is the New York Times best-selling author of many novels - including HALO: The Fall of Reach. He has helped create over 50 video games like Gears of War. He lives near rain-drenched Seattle.

Brilliant LitRPG,
Note quite as good as the first book, though still leagues better than most other books in the genre and a clear 5 stars from me.
A Thousand Drunken Monkeys continues the MC's journey through Thera. It feels a little more slice-of-life and a little more hastily written - the story is unique and interesting, but not as tight or intricately crafted as #1 - we spend more time watching the hero travel from place to place and discuss (in great detail) the food he's eating, both of which I could have done without.
But... that's small fry within an otherwise fantastic story. If you've read book 1 and loved it, you'll like this book as well (there's some pretty cool surprises along the way). If you haven't read book 1, what are you waiting for? This is an Absolutely. Brilliant. Series.
Bring on Book 3

Feels like filler
Didn't grab me like book 1 Hero of Thera, I'd like to have heard more on the story line of the Gods and where the Hero's of Thera fit in, It'd be a shame if book 3 went side story line.. Hektor against his brother.. level up.. fight some assassins.. meet a girl.. she's an assassin. I'd be done, was Eric maybe a bit busy with HALO to do this story justice.
