About this listen

In fear for his life, American millionaire Daniel Cartwright changes his will, appointing his old friend Rowland Sinclair as his executor.

Soon murder proves that fear was well founded.

When Rowland receives word of Cartwright’s death, he sets out immediately for Boston, Massachusetts, to bury his friend and honour his last wishes. He is met with the outrage and anguish of Cartwright’s family, who have been spurned in favour of a man they claim does not exist.

Artists and gangsters, movie stars and tycoons all gather to the fray as elite society closes in to protect its own, and family secrets haunt the living. Rowland Sinclair must confront a world in which insanity is relative, greed is understood, and love is dictated; where the only people he can truly trust are an artist, a poet and a passionate sculptress.

Best yet!

I loved A Testament of Character and I’m hanging out for the next instalment, I hope Sulari Gentill is writing away!

Rupert Degas is such a fantastic voice actor, he brings each character to life. After so many books, I can instantly tell which character is speaking, he captures them all so perfectly. I think he did a wonderful job of all the different accents in this book, so many different American voices. I particularly love the way he reads the news clippings that start the chapters, he sounds just like the old news reels.

In my opinion this was possibly the best book in the series. Sometimes a series can start to feel a bit stale when you get to book 9, but not yet. I’m still as in love with Roland Sinclair and his arty friends as I was in book 2. There is less art and painting in this book but that’s ok, there was enough of everything else to make up for it.

I enjoy all the little cameos, recognising the actual historical figures amongst the fiction. Also the game of Monopoly Edna and Milt played… it went exactly as well as you’d expect. Little moments like those, the humour, break through the heavy topics Sulari Gentill handles in this book.

Enthralling Series

I can't express how much I love this series. Degas once again brings the characters to life and Sulari Gentill tells a great story in the adventures of Rolland Sinclair and his 3 friends. I can't wait for the next audiobooks in this entertaining and wonderful series.

Twists and Plots but I regret a predicted ending.

The Compete Series of Rowland Sinclair Mysteries are excellent and a treat to listen to. I regret this is the last of the series to date.

I found "A Testament of Character", continuous and flowed well from the earlier books all of which I listen to in a very short period of time. Sulari is well-deserving of the Ned Kelly award.

Rupert Degas is one of my favorite narrators on Audible, well done.

I regret I saw the twist well before the end but found it interesting in how Sulari handled it............

I hope there are more to the series as I have become fond of the characters and have even looked at the Woollahra House (which is for sale).....My wife said no.

Highly recommended - The compete, series.

Excellent narrator and such an enjoyable series

Thank you. I thorough enjoyed this series, the story line, the characters and the interesting historical background. I do hope there is more to come. For those for whom holding a book is difficult, this is a wonderful alternative.
