About this listen
"In the summer of 1991 I was a normal kid. I did normal things. I had friends and a mother who loved me. I was just like you. Until the day my life was stolen. For eighteen years I was a prisoner. I was an object for someone to use and abuse. For eighteen years I was not allowed to speak my own name. I became a mother and was forced to be a sister. For eighteen years I survived an impossible situation. On August 26, 2009, I took my name back. My name is Jaycee Lee Dugard. I dont think of myself as a victim. I survived. A Stolen Life is my story in my own words, in my own way, exactly as I remember it."

A truly heartbreaking story of a loss of innocence
This memoir reveals a truly heartbreaking, brutal, honest account of a young girls life that should have played out very differently than it did. But what a remarkable and intelligent young girl, mother and woman Jaycee Dugard is.
Definitely worth listening to, although very hard to hear some things this book is inspirational and insightful.
Will definitely be listening to the next book

Shocking
I have to admit that I almost stopped listening to this a few times... it made me sick to hear what happened and I don't even know how she managed to survive. What a brave woman o continue living your life with your girls x
This is a book by Jaycee and as she says it does get a little muddled but you are listening to it through her mind and she has done an amazing job considering. I hope you find a little more peace each and every day.

Incredible book
I’d read the book some time ago, but listening to Jaycee read it herself brings a whole new level to this story. She is amazing.

Glad I stuck it out
It was a bit hard to get into, I wasn't sure how I was going to go with her voice sounding like it was just reading off the page. However I'm glad I kept at it because her story is very interesting. Do be warned that she does go into quite heavy detail about her abduction and happenings after. I like that the story didn't just finished when she was reunited with her family, but we got an insight to how she's moved past it all in the years since.

Finally Closure
Thank you so much Jaycee for writing this book.
I remember the time you were taken and all those years wondering what had happened to you.
Every so often there would be some publicity on the radio or newspapers of possible siting or speculation, but nothing came to fruition.
I'm so pleased you made it out alive and with 2 beautiful daughters ❤️
I can hear your frustration of being stuck and helplessness, just wanting to live your life as a normal adult.
It takes time to adjust but always take it at your own pace.
Love to you and your family xx

To Jaycee
One of the most powerful things I have ever heard. Especially coming from this incredible woman herself in her own words & voice. This story had an extremely powerful effect on me. Absolutely heart wrenching & awe inspiring. Thank you Jaycee Lee Dugard for sharing your incredibly difficult story. I'm sure there are many people in this world whom you have inspired, including me.

Weird
I found the book itself great, I found the way it was told very hard to get use to.
But I’m saying that by the end of the book I was used to it

Touching
Jaycee you are an amazing resilient person. The 18 long years you survived with your abductors is a heartwrenching story. However it is NOT a "story" it was YOUR LIFE.
I've cried many tears listening to your telling of the events of your life, but most were shed after your freedom. Mostly happy tears as you discovered yourself. Some of those tears were for the difficulties you endured whilst discovering yourself. You are definitely a person to look up to & so very deserving of the very best life ahead. No matter what you think, ARE a teacher! A teacher of humanity & survival.
YOU ARE VERY SPECIAL!
YOU ARE AMAZING!
YOU ARE LOVED!
