About this listen

When famous human musician Melody wakes two thousand years after a nuclear winter, she thinks she’s landed on the right side of a war. Fae are called the Tainted. They’re warped, mutated creatures who hoard the bounty of the new magical land. It’s her job in the human city to sling propaganda in the form of daily songs performed to a select tower of elite.

But this position makes her sought after by many, including a ghastly military man, the evil president of the new world, and an enigmatic stranger who turns up at her doorstep asking for help.

Forrest is the good guy—the elf people go to when they want help, no questions asked. And when he learns he’s the only Guardian with the looks to pass as human, he accepts the job to infiltrate the enemy city and bring a kidnapped fae child home. He never counted on meeting a woman so extraordinary, he hardly believes she exists. Melody—the human harbinger—swiftly captures his heart and tempts him out of a long lifetime of celibacy.

As trouble brews within the ranks of the human elite, Forrest and Melody must come to terms with their forbidden desires…and decide which sacrifice is worth the cost—one of their hearts, or one of freedom.

A Song of Sky and Sacrifice is the first installment in the Season of the Elf, but the seventh book in the Fae Guardians series.

Never let anyone quieten your voice !

“If you’re not doing, you’re waiting”.

At the end of A Symphony of Savage Hearts, little Willow was kidnapped by the humans & taken to Crystal City. A Song Of Sky And Sacrifice picks up with Forrest being the one who will infiltrate the human city to get her back.

Melody was a star in her time, but even now unfrozen thousand years later finds herself still a prisoner of fame as an entertainer for the human city president Nero. Melody has been taught the tainted (Fae) are dangerous, but a chance meeting with Forrest shows how much she has been lied to & that she may be trapped with the real villains.

Forrest & Melody find in each other what they have been missing their whole lives. They each finally feel seen & loved for who they are, but someone else wants Melody for his own & will stop at nothing to get what he wants.

All the books so far have taken place in Elyphane. Lana has created a beautiful world full of fae wonder. We got a small glimpse of the human city - Crystal City in A Symphony of Savage Hearts. Most of this story takes place in Crystal City, so we get more insight into how the human world looks & works. Even though maybe thousands of years in the future, its values are still very rooted in the past with its archaic traditions.

Forrest is just a cinnamon roll & it was heartbreaking to know about his past & how it has shaped him into the man he is. Melody is plus size beauty & love how Lana showed the real struggle of trying to love the body you're in & dealing with other people's opinions of what you should look like & how it can only take a few words to smash your confidence. Loved the sweet way their relationship developed & the acceptance of what each considered ‘flaws’.

I love this world Lana has created & it was great to be back in it & excited for what comes next after the way things are developing.

I did find the last ⅓ seemed a bit rushed & wished a few moments had been given just a little bit more time, but another beautifully written Guardians story.

Such a strong series with wonderful world building, kickass heroines, & lickable alphamales.

Re-read this through the audio version. Addison & Marcio did an amazing job bringing these characters to life.
