About this listen
A young woman must navigate the dangers of a strange new world filled with magic and mystery in this imaginative and highly detailed LitRPG adventure.
When Alice Verianna went to sleep, she was just another teen from the Denver suburbs. She definitely didn't expect to be transported to a magical alternate dimension, inhabited by monsters and presided over by a mysterious System. Here, people resemble RPG characters and everyone has access to their own status screens.
Grappling with the mechanics of the elusive System isn't the only challenge Alice faces. It seems an underground organization known as the Society of Starry Eyes has taken a particular interest in other dimensions. If they find out about Alice, they will stop at nothing to hunt her down and forcibly extract from her the secrets of her world.
Now, in addition to pursuing her own scientific endeavors, as well as learning to harness the magic that surrounds her, Alice must determine the Society's ultimate intention—and how she ended up here in first place. Before it's too late . . .
The first volume of the hit LitRPG adventure series—with almost two million views on Royal Road—now available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and Audible!

Didn’t finish
I enjoyed this book, not a lot but enough to listen to it for 16 hours then I became uninterested in it, the whole science idea and theory crafting was exciting.
Also fine for a lot of the book but the MC seems to spend 10 of those 16 hours inner monologuing which again is fine but when she’s in a conversation with people and spends 12 mins inner monologuing it becomes a bit much and the conversation loses meaning and flow.
I reccommend this book if you enjoy science and enjoy the first 3 hours of the book you will likely enjoy the rest. For me I can’t handle MC’s that have a morality issue when taking a life in self defence and the tedium of inner monologues broke me.
Still well written besides what I stated earlier and the voice actor did very well, a lot of emotion put into it
4/5

I enjoyed it
it's nice to see different types of players in the very saturated litrpg genre as someone who has listened to 100s of litrpg this was a breath of fresh air.

For those you love to ask 'why"
I love "scientist investigates a magic world" books, and this is one of the most enjoyable I've read. If you are the kind of person who is more interested in how and why the magic system works in a fantasy world and tend to get frustrated by inconsistencies in that system. If you tend to tune out a bit during the fight scenes. If you love an incredibly detailed world building. Then this book is for you. it's well written and excellently narrated. I'm so glad we are starting to see more of the slower paced, detailed fantasy books that focus on intellectual discovery rather than strength and combat. I can't wait for the next one!

Fascinating and Fun
I love the scientific method being applied to magic. It's really interesting and not something I've seen before. The characters are likeable and the experiments make sense.
The performer also does a great job with her voice acting. I've always had trouble getting through even an average length audiobook but her voice kept me interested, despite the 27 hour runtime.
If you're looking for more of this work, Acaswell has published more of it on Royal Road, about 2 extra books of this length worth. Just be warned that it isn't as polished as this with lots of little errors in her writing that don't seem to get fixed until they're taken down and edited in the publishing phase of things. As this only came out recently, there should still be at least a reasonable amount of time before any more gets taken down for the 2nd book to be published so catch up now if you're impatient like me!
I'll still be buying future audiobooks of this series though and hoping it's the same great voice actress performing them!
