Editorial reviews

Jeff Santo, as the son of the beloved Chicago Cubs third baseman Ron Santo, must certainly know some great baseball stories, and crafts one of his own in this charming play. At a fantasy camp, former teammates Charley Ride, Joe Gallo, and Bill Oliver reunite and swap stories about their careers in the big leagues and their post-retirement lives. In this LA Theatre Works production, Dennis Franz, Joe Mantegna, and Richard Zavaglia have an easy camaraderie; their energy bounces off each other to create a gentle humor that makes A Rough in the Diamond a low-key but wonderfully joyous affair.
