About this listen
This story picks up exactly where book one left off. The Talbot family is evacuating their home amid a zombie apocalypse. Mankind is on the edge of extinction as a new dominant, mindless opponent scours in search of food, which happens to be non-infected humans. In this book are the journal entries of Michael Talbot, his wife, Tracy, and their kids, Nicole, Justin, and Travis. With them are Brendon, Nicole's fiancee, and Tommy, previously a Wal-Mart door greeter who may be more than he seems. Together they struggle against a ruthless, relentless enemy that has singled them out above all others.
The Talbots have escaped Little Turtle but to what end? On the run, they find themselves encountering a far vaster evil than the one that has already beset them. As they travel across the war-torn countryside, they soon learn that there are more than just zombies to be fearful of. With law and order a distant memory, some humans have decided to take any and all matters into their own hands. Can the Talbots come through unscathed, or will they suffer the fate of so many countless millions before them? It's not just the brains versus the brain-eaters anymore. The stakes may be higher than merely life and death, with eternal souls on the line.

Hell of a trip
Love this series. It’s my second time around listening after finding the books in the library by accident. Sean Runnette does brilliant work bringing the Talbotverse to life, lol, sorry Mr Runnette but you’re now type cast as Michael Talbot forevermore. Thank you Mark Tufo for your imagination (or quite possibly peeks into the multiverse). Hmm is that actually a form of stalking if that’s the case? Poor Mike 😉

Just keeps getting better
I really enjoyed this book - I love the take on a typical Zombie Apocalypse. Refreshing - and it had me laughing out loud many times. As well as some very stressful moments. Great book. Just started the next in the series.

Brilliant 2nd book in this story
I cannot help but love this sarcastic and witty man who adores his wife whilst at the same time knows how far (just) he can go before he will earn her wrath.
This is the 2nd time around for me listening to these books. The first time about 4 years ago and I’m enjoying listening to them all over again.
Highly recommend!

It was good. At first.
Book one was pretty good. And book two was following suit.
BUT.. the author really wanted to lean into the “men are always thinking about sex” (literally said by the main character to the reader), and that New York is “neo-fascist” (also said seriously by the main character to the reader.)
There is also a heavy focus on just how progressive the main character is.. and to aid this.. we’re presented with a colourful cast of offensive stereotypes for the main character to prove it. An angry lesbian, a big scary black man, a stereotypical Mexican engineer friend, to state a few.
It could have been good. The performance by the speaker is great. The writing.. not so much.
