Publisher's Summary
A profoundly moving and inspiring memoir from Australia's domestic violence crusader, Rosie Batty.
Rosie Batty knows pain no woman should have to suffer. Her son was killed by his father in a violent incident in February 2014, a horrendous event that shocked not only the nation but the world. Greg Anderson murdered his 11-year-old son, Luke, and was then shot by police at the Tyabb cricket oval. Rosie had suffered years of family violence and had had intervention and custody orders in place in an effort to protect herself and her son. She believes the killing was Greg's final act of control over her.
Since the events of last February, Rosie has become an outspoken crusader against domestic violence, winning hearts and minds all over Australia with her compassion, courage, grace and forgiveness.
In the wake of the tragedy, Rosie's advocacy work has forced an unprecedented national focus on family violence, with the Victorian Labor government establishing Australia's first royal commission into family violence and committing a further $30 million over four years to protect women and children at high risk of family violence. Then Victorian police commissioner Ken Lay called it 'the Rosie Batty factor'. In January 2015, Rosie was named Australian of the Year 2015.
Inspiring, heartfelt and profoundly moving, this is Rosie's story.

Good listen.
I enjoyed listening to this heartbreaking story. It made me cry. It was interesting to hear about what happened in the lead up to that very terrible day. It was something I had heard about in the media when it happened so I was interested to hear how such a tragedy could unfold.

My heart goes out
I finished the book today and all I can say is Rosie has been to hell and back. What she has gone through is terrible. I wish more can be done to prevent family violence.

Heartful
Really enjoyed listening to Rosie read her own words with her voice breaking only once at one of the most important moments.
“Celebrity for all the wrong reasons” couldn’t have been more true.
So sorry for your story, Rosie. Continue to have strength and advocate!

inspiring and educating
thank you for sharing your story, Rosie. It was sad to read the long and frustrating story that led to that terrible day when Luke was killed. Already an inspiration on change in relation to domestic violence, this book clearly shows the lengths people go to control, and amount of gaps in the system to protect children and seek the right support for those involved.

A story for us all
To hear Rosie read her own story, once again demonstrates the wonderful gift she is to us all and why she was honoured as Australian of the year.
Statistics say we do know someone who is or has been affected. Hopefully armed with the insights Rosie affords us, we can ask the hard questions and help someone in need.

Remarkable
Rosie is an inspiring woman, her story is painful and remarkable and very eye opening.
Hopefully the awareness that Rosie has raised for family violence has made a difference in the treatment of the victims. I listened on in horror to some of the things Rosie and Luke had to endure as a result of an underfunded & broken system.
