About this listen
'If you grew up reading Jane Austen and Agatha Christie (or are a fan of the more recent Bridgerton and Knives Out), you will adore A Most Agreeable Murder" Kate Stayman-London, bestselling author of One to Watch
'A delightfully entertaining debut! Be prepared to laugh out loud at the comedy, gasp at the murder mystery, and altogether have a thoroughly great time!' India Holton, author of The Wisteria Society of Lady Scoundrels
Beatrice Steele has none of the accomplishments of a true lady: she is terrible at needlework, has no musical ability, and her artwork is so bad it frightens people. Little does anyone know that Beatrice also harbours a dark secret: an obsession with the true crime cases she reads about in the newspaper.
For her family's sake, she's vowed to put this most unladylike obsession behind her. Eligible bachelor Edmund Croaksworth is set to attend the autumnal ball, and the Steele family hopes that her eldest sister Louisa will steal his heart. Their future depends on this match! Beatrice needs be on her best behaviour... though that's made more difficult when a disgraced yet strangely alluring detective inexplicably shows up to the ball.
Just as Beatrice thinks she's gotten away with it, Croaksworth drops dead in the middle of a minuet. As a storm rages outside, the evening descends into a frenzy as it becomes clear they are trapped with a killer. But maybe, just maybe, it's Beatrice's time to shine...

Engaging but left wanting
I enjoyed this story but really wanted the story to continue to explore a great relationship that had been brewing the entire book. Seems bashful to deny the reader of that. It’s a shame as the story was intriguing till mystery was solved then only minor suggestions of the future when all things were pointing to what could have been a spectacular relationship.

Too looooong!
This had a pretty good storyline, but it's just so slow. It took til the end of the sixth chapter for the murder to occur, which was 2.5 hours of listening in. I was just on the verge of giving up. So I keep going for a few more chapters. I made it for another 4 or 5 chapters, then jumped ahead to the 3rd last chapter to get the denouement and the finale. I won't be rushing to fine any sequels.

Witty & amusing murder mystery
At the beginning of each chapter there’s a letter from a related character I found it a bit confusing at times as it interrupted the flow of the story. Solid plot & good twist.

The way it was broken up with footnotes and ‘notes as a play’
Loved the story. It was well written and quite interesting. I enjoyed learning about the characters in the story. I was able to pick the murderer but did doubt myself with a few red herring thrown in.
