About this listen
When Captain Robert Kineally went missing from Haverton American Army base in Devon in 1944, it was generally assumed he had lost his nerve and deserted. But now, 20 years after the war, a body found on the near-derelict base seems to tell an entirely different story.

Really enjoying this series!
What a pity the earlier Woodend books have not been recorded yet. I can never understand why Audible releases these older series in reverse order. I will definitely be adding Inspector Charlie Woodend to my wish list.
I didn't expect to enjoy these stories as much as I have, since they were made available to me for free. But I was pleasantly surprised. The stories are engrossing and the main characters likeable yet realistic. Inspector Woodend is an old fashioned copper who served in WWII, and conducts himself with down-to-earth pragmatism and integrity while investigating some very interesting crimes. Police procedurals set in a time before smartphones and DNA matching have a unique charm and pace, much to be savoured in these well written books. The narrator is very good too.

Overall ok.
This was an overall a good book with a good storyline. Some of the characters voices found to.be annoying. Did not distract from the overall narration.
