Bob Odenkirk
About this listen
Bob Odenkirk is a legend in the comedy-writing world, winning Emmys and acclaim for his work on Saturday Night Live, Mr. Show with Bob and David, and many other seminal television shows. This book, his first, is a spleen-bruisingly funny omnibus that ranges from absurdist monologues ("Martin Luther King Jr.'s Worst Speech Ever") to intentionally bad theater ("Hitler Dinner Party: A Play"), from avant-garde fiction ("Obit for the Creator of Mad Libs") to free-verse poetry that's funnier and more powerful than the work of Calvin Trillin, Jewel, and Robert Louis Stevenson combined.
Odenkirk's debut resembles nothing so much as a hilariousnew sketch comedy show that's exclusively available as a streaming video for your mind. As Odenkirk himself writes in "The Second Meeting of Jesus and Lazarus," it is a book "to be read aloud to yourself in the voice of Bob Newhart".

Funny
Let me start by saying I'm a huge fan of Bill Odenkirk's other work...
No, I liked it. Brought some laughs to a depressed, unhappy work week just like I hoped it would.
I feel like such a nobody that Phil Spector never brandished a gun on me! If I had one suggestion it would be for it be indexed like it would be in book form so I can easily return to the bits I wanted to, like the aforementioned Phil Spector story or the slow burn, depressing, dysfunctional Bostonlike Christmas Story, very well voiced by Jay Johnston. This was really quite good and breezed past me on first listen. I kept laughing about it later so had to go back to it.
Or 'How I got these abs', which is too familiar. Too familiar. Oh god.
But presumably there would have to be more sales and interest to go to the trouble of indexing all the chapters so help me out with that.
For now I bookmarked the bits I liked.
