The Times Children's Book of the Week.
A Kind of Spark tells the story of 11-year-old Addie as she campaigns for a memorial in memory of the witch trials that took place in her Scottish hometown. Addie knows there's more to the story of these 'witches', just like there is more to hers. Can Addie challenge how the people in her town see her and her autism, and make her voice heard?
A story about friendship, courage and self-belief, perfect for fans of The Goldfish Boy.

Inspiring and Eye opening
As an autistic adult myself, this story reminded me so much of my younger self. What a beautiful story with such incredible insights into how our minds work. A great story for all to read to gain some understanding 😍

Autistic mind
An a amazing story and perfectly narrated. It truely conveys the inner working of an autistic mind. Some parts may trigger traumatic memories and experiences.

Finally
I'm Autistic. When I was 12 the school priest said to me "if we still had burnings you'd be at the top of my list", because I couldn't make my body co-operate with church rituals for an hour in an Australian summer church. Because I was experiencing burnout and shut down at 12 years old. The only thing in this book which didn't happen to me, is having anyone to listen to me, defend, or support me. Thanks to the author and all involved for doing so now.
