Editorial reviews

Blurring biography and improv, Roger Guenveur's A Huey P. Newton Story delves into the conflicted life of the famed Black Panther co-founder. Newton who eventually earned a PhD in sociology, gained some notoriety for being involved in the slaying of a white police officer. Newton was eventually shot and killed by a member of another black power movement. Intimate and enlightening, Roger Guenveur Smith's performance is not to be missed. His range and humor are remarkable considering the difficult subject matter at hand.
