Very well written and toned
About the rise of a demon from nothing more than a damned soul to... ultimately a challenge to the gods or at least that's where it's going. The way it is handled is very well done, not once did I cringe while reading this story which you would think I'd do considering the previous sentence SOUNDS like a 12 year olds oc story.
I can only assume it is because of the fusion between writing and narration. The writing is grim and evil without being edgy or villainous (in the cartoonish sense). The narration is measured and serious, conveying the long suffering and tortured exsitence of the demon to the listener. The best part of the book has to be the personality of the protagonist, the balance between selfishness and selflessness that makes them evil without being simply unstomachable as a character.
Made even better when you find out who they used to be as well as how and why they became evil. They may have a justifified cause to hate the gods but they truly do deserve to be damned.
Reminiscent of dnd in lore and not too heavy on the litrpg character dumps(they feel more frequent but on checking it's mostly because they tend to be clumped up), this is a series I hope many more people pick up and review because I am very eager to see where this one will go.
