About this listen

The legend of Tal Harrenfel has reached its final verse.

But though Tal has embraced his gifts, and Garin has discovered his own, their greatest trials lie ahead.

Tal, Garin, and their companions begin their approach to Ikvaldar, the mountain atop which the immortal sorcerer Yuldor waits. Before they can challenge Yuldor for the Worldheart, however, they must first overcome Ikvaldar's formidable defenses.

Their quest will carry them into the heart of enemy territory. There, they will encounter their deadliest foe yet, one who may eclipse even Tal's towering potential.

The last battle is near. The legend is at its end. For Tal and Garin to remake the world, it will require sacrifice beyond their imagining...

A God's Plea is the final instalment in The Legend of Tal series.

Riveting but frustrating

An epic adventure, a story line with tremendous potential, but with one of the lead characters who sets my teeth to grinding with his relentless lack of self confidence. As he continues to make the same mistakes again and again, I find myself wanting to grab him by the scruff to shake the idiot out of him. At least I can’t accuse the author of character inconsistencies, as all the characters are consistent to a fault.

Still, overall, I really enjoyed the series and devoured it in just a few days.
Mr Perkins did a marvellous job with his narration.

Tal Harrenfel

I have finally finished the Legend of Tal series and I was utterly enthralled during the entire journey.
Story line was fantastic and the reader Derek Perkins added so much to the telling.
Felling a little empty now I can’t turn it on during my long commute to work this morning…
Thank you!

The legend of Tal

A fine finish, though, there exists room for more..
threads unfinished remain. small closures, and hints of whatever next, paths suggested and undecided.
The story lands in the final moments with an ending that seems a fine place to land.
Much is tethered. the narrator does well with the myriad of characters, using words penned by a hand pressed to bring resolution to much peril, including concepts of divinity, gods, wishes, hopes, human hunger, emotion, longing and resolve are laid bare in moment after moment. sorrows, sacrifice, and strength of character are enacted in each sentence, paragraph, and chapter.
so much action, sorcery, tenacity, overwhelming odds, growth and companionship. each character emerging unique and wholly believable. bonds of family, friendship and loyalty. so much tenacity!
i am glad i was able to start and finish the story without pausing to wait the release of the next book. i had to know what next..
recommended to lovers of adventure, folklore and dragons!

Excellent Series

Thoroughly enjoyed this series. I was totally involved in this fantasy world with a great band of characters. My only criticism was that the epilogue felt rushed to ‘round off’ the tale. Two very notable characters were not mentioned at all in the final pages and given the importance of their roles throughout the series I felt very disappointed.
