About this listen

An aggressive debt collector banished from the kingdom. Now his life depends on his ability to help the less fortunate....

Vireo Reinhold relishes collecting his monarch’s proper dues. Working hard to prolong and fund the king’s never-ending war, the self-centered official revels in the perks of luxury that come with his unorthodox role. But his world upends when he unearths an ancient spellbook that promises to unlock a shadowy, forgotten magic. Embroiled in a secret affair with a fellow noble’s wife, Vireo is mortified when he’s forced to commit an unthinkable act. Driven into exile, no longer able to coerce the vulnerable, and with the powerful tome in his enemy’s hands, the fallen agent’s only shot at survival hangs on his skills at saving others.

Can Vireo redeem himself as the people’s champion before they all fall to a sinister fate?

A Forest of Vanity and Valour is the dark first book in the Tales of Levanthria fantasy-retelling series. If you like fast-paced action, evil-to-good transformations, and classic stories with a twist, then you’ll love A.P Beswick’s ominous tale. a solid fantasy story

A solid goundation to the series. however there whete a few plot holes and 2 spots in particular where the author completely forgot about a characters existence in a given scenario.

This got better as the story went on

At first I disliked Verio very
Much but by the end he became very
Likeable. Heck. I’m a sucker for a band of misfits.

I really can't say. the world building and characters grabbed me straight away

Loved it from start to finish, The name Jereab kept catching me off guard in a bit of laughter because of a funny video I know, and The Seer women, feels alittle too close to Melisandre from game of thrones. But I'd love to see this as a TV series one day. Time to listen to The Sea of Sorrow and scorn!

Loved it.

Honestly it’s a great story just wish it was longer. I like the character perspectives, and the romanticism behind the actions the growth in the character arc, but I wish the voice in Jarod’s head was explained after

Better than I expected!

I enjoyed this book. It was easy to follow, captivating and a clever retake on Robin Hood.
I like fantasy but sometimes it can be a bit much. This was well writen and quite refreshing. Hopefully book two will be just as good or better.

no waised words, and the twist was good. overall looking forward to whole series

combat was very fast and lost of tension. the fast pace combat for unknown fighters was good but for main antagonists and or named fighters was underwhelming.
