Sara Linton, medical examiner in the small town of Heartsdale, is called out to an apparent suicide on the local college campus. The mutilated body provides little in the way of clues - and the college authorities are keen to avoid a scandal - but for Sara and police Chief Jeffrey Tolliver, things don't add up. Two more suspicious suicides follow, and a young woman is brutally attacked. For Sara, the violence strikes far too close to home. And as Jeffrey pursues the sadistic killer, he discovers that ex-police detective Lena Adams, now a security guard on campus, may be in possession of crucial information. A faint cold fear
I love that these books go back and forth between time lines of The characters lives!
People that weren’t suspects become them - this is the 4th book I’ve listened to first read out by Deborah - I prefer Jens readings - really good

Always brilliantly disturbing
Another great Karen Slaughter read. Not usually a reader of book.series, but enjoying this one.

I absolutely loved this book. A nice little twist at the end. Loved the narrator! Well read. Looking forward to the next book in the series

You’ll never guess who did it
Another great read from Karen Slaughter, so far I’ve really enjoyed the series I didn’t think it would go the way it has, which makes it excellent reading.
My only drawback is the character Jeffrey, it’s beginning to get on my nerves and I feel like I should punch him out. Rather an ethical policeman work there. But hey it probably does happen. Very scary the way some of the characters are starting to play out, love to see where it goes and what happens next. Can’t wait for the next one in the series. If you like good mystery, sometimes bad police work and suspicious characters, lots of them, read this book.

Good enough
Overall it was a good book. A lirlttle bit drawn out. Liking Lena in the book was hard and am still not sure I do.
