About this listen

The Underworld rules the city of Veldaren. Thieves, smugglers, assassins...they fear only one man.

Thren Felhorn is the greatest assassin of his time. All the thieves' guilds of the city are under his unflinching control. If he has his way, death will soon spill out from the shadows and into the streets.

Aaron is Thren's son, trained to be heir to his father's criminal empire. He's cold, ruthless - everything an assassin should be. But when Aaron risks his life to protect a priest's daughter from his own guild, he glimpses a world beyond poison, daggers and the iron rule of his father.

Assassin or protector; every choice has its consequences.

Fantasy author David Dalglish spins a tale of retribution and darkness, and an underworld reaching for ultimate power.

Portrayed The Characters Poorly

As much as I love the book I feel the Narrator Couldn't grasp the concept of the characters properly and is what made them feel less interactive.

To me mostly he made Will and Senke lose any part of their originality and experience, I don't know why the Narrator made every TALL MASS OF MUSCLE seem like like their talking is slow and stupid. Will should've sounded more Cautious but Stern to his voice and Senke would have sounded more gentlemanly and brass towards others, plus I think putting the accent on him was forced.

Now this is just my opinion and my thoughts on the characters and I know everyone has their own interpretation on them.

Unlistenable - reader is hopeless

Reader was fine when they weren't attempting accents. But there were sufficient characters given accents (seemingly at random?) that were so painful I missed a lot of the story and had to stop listening. In the middle of enjoying a section there would suddenly be a character speaking in what may have been a broad Scottish brogue spoken by someone with brain damage. Multiple characters with the same accent made it very difficult to keep track.
I might go buy the book as the story was engaging, but the presentation here does the author a grave disservice.
