When doing the right thing goes horribly wrong...

Caroline Blakely is certain of two things: She was happy with her life as a first grade school teacher, and she can never, ever return to it.

After discovering a shocking truth about her father, the wealthy businessman at the helm of Blakely Oil, she’s on the run—a difficult feat given her father’s endless resources and connections.

With the help of friends, Carly is able to secure a new identity, but her attempts to keep a low profile are blown to bits when she gets stuck in Drum, Tennessee. When she investigates a cry in the parking lot outside her motel room, she finds herself the lone witness to a murder.

Stranded in the small Appalachian Mountain town, she soon realizes that Drum is as riddled with secrets as her own past. A huge chunk of the intrigue centers around the Drummond family, ancestors of the town’s founders, and their oldest son, Wyatt—an ex-con.

She knows she’d do best to stay away from the Drummonds, especially Wyatt, and from the mystery she’s stumbled upon, but Carly’s sense of right and wrong demands that she help, even if it means risking her own secrets...and her life.

A Small Town , Big Drama , Girl in Hiding

As far as a story about a girl fleeing her fiancé and wealthy father. Only to end up in a small town with more drama than you could poke a stick at goes,

This isn’t a bad story.

Carly Moore just happens to break down in the worst spot EVER! Whilst travelling through the Smokey Mountains
Only saving grace is..,.
Wyatt, and his trusty toe truck

Who are able to get her out of this pickle by depositing her on the small town of …
DRUM.
With funds short, and car repairs to pay for, she finds herself working at Wyatt’s brother , Max’s Bar.

A Bar that, everyone in town frequents.
Shady and the not so shady.

Soon, it becomes apparent, that the bad guys have got their wires cross to why, what, who, Carly is doing in town.

This story wasn’t bad,
The plot rollicked along with Carly getting deeper, and deeper, into trouble, all while trying to keep her OWN secrets close to her chest.

There were moments where this story was heartbreaking!!!
Especially involving the character Seth.

I suppose for me, the most annoying, lamest part of the story was the romance aspect.

This, was borderline cringe, at times

But.
Overall, I did enjoy this book and will probably read the next one despite how bad and predictably written the development of the relationship between Wyatt and Carly was
