About this listen
Dr Nell Ward is delighted when her childhood friend Percy announces she's engaged to handsome businessman Hawke McAnstruther - and rashly offers to host the wedding at Finchmere, her family's estate. But she hadn't anticipated Percy's parents' fiery disapproval of the groom.
The ceremony is barely over before Hawke's shady personal and professional life starts to unravel, and tension ripples through the assembled guests. When the wedding night ends with a shocking death, Nell, best-friend Rav and DI James Clarke all find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery worthy of Agatha Christie.
Surviving a terrifying threat to her own life, Nell has to face up to the truth. Not just about murder at Finchmere, but about where her heart truly lies...
The second book in the Nell Ward cosy crime series - perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Fiona Leitch, Faith Martin and The Appeal.©2022 Sarah Yarwood-Lovett (P)2022 Bonnier Books UK

a bit slow with too many adjectives!
There were many lurching, falling, heaving stomachs, hearts etc. Too much need for suspended disbelief.

Very slow and repetitive
The first book in the series was a good listen, but this one seemed to drag on forever. In a few sections the descriptions were so over the top that it was hard to follow what was happening. The love triangle felt a bit played out and tired after the first book and in some points was very cringe. The writing was repetitive - the main character constantly bites her lip, and all characters exclaim “Jesus!” at every revelation, no matter how small.
Hard to finish, and I love who done its! I’d just stick to the first book in this series.
