About this listen
Hey, we’re on the same team here; let’s pray and support one another.
Welcome to our book on prayers and scripture for fathers. Let’s think of it as less of a book and more of an afternoon we can spend together, praying for and encouraging each other. Consider it time we can share as friends and hold each other up.
A young man sits down on a park bench. Next to him on the far end is an older man. The older man does not make a sound and does not even look up. He is well-dressed and holds a fine cane in his right hand. The young man is silent and sullen. Without looking, the older man says, “Are you wondering what to do or if you did enough?
“Both, I guess,” replies the young man.
And the old man looks over and says, “That you may never know, but I can tell you how it does not matter, find another man and pray. Pray for him, and let him pray for you and do it again each day. If you want the peace this can offer, come into prayer with another.”
The young man looks down. “I guess I don’t have that friend,” he replies.
The man reaches out, saying, “And now you do.”
So many people I meet just need a friend, someone in their life who cares enough to spend some time and have that coffee. So many lives would be changed if they could find that person. You are blessed today. I am with you in the car or at the table, and we can share your day. I know for many years, I craved someone just to be that person in my life. Such meaningful time can be shared between two men of God!
