Ridiculous story but...

I literally got hooked on the stupidity of the story and the main character. He just kept going back again and again. I'd like to say I got swept up in the love story but honestly it was basically me yelling back at the narrator during listening to the book and there are three in the series. If you're a glutton for punishment, like I am, clearly, give this a listen. But be warned it will leave you questioning why you did it and laughing at yourself for doing so afterwards.

A reluctant read

Not her best work by far but I’m committed to see the series out because I usually love her books. The story skims over some big events and still has a very annoying female lead each time Julian tries to find her. The portrayal of Maori is terrible and the ‘kiwi’ accent (which I know is hard to replicate) detracted from the story for me because I was cringing so often.
