About this listen
A breakthrough program for triathletes - beginner, intermediate, and advanced - showing how to balance training intensity to maximize performance - from a fitness expert and elite coach.
Cutting-edge research has proven that triathletes and other endurance athletes experience their greatest performance when they do 80 percent of their training at low intensity and the remaining 20 percent at moderate to high intensity. But the vast majority of recreational triathletes are caught in the so-called "moderate-intensity rut", spending almost half of their time training too hard - harder than the pros. Training harder isn't smarter; it actually results in low-grade chronic fatigue that prevents recreational athletes from getting the best results.
In 80/20 Triathlon, Matt Fitzgerald and David Warden lay out the real-world and scientific evidence, offering concrete tips and strategies, along with complete training plans for every distance - sprint, Olympic, half-Ironman, and Ironman - to help athletes implement the 80/20 rule of intensity balance. Benefits include reduced fatigue and injury risk, improved fitness, increased motivation, and better race results.

Another Fitzgerald (Warden) cracker
Matt Fitzgerald and David Warden team up brilliantly here. If you have read Matt Fitzgerald previously, you will not be disappointed with this. Being based in Western Australia and prior to reading 8020 Triathlon I did not know who David Warden was but once I did my research I began to understand his exceptional work with athletes such as the Iron Cowboy and his own personal achievements, fair to say a true powerhouse in his sport. What a team we have here.
You feel that the two professionals treat the reader, whatever level they are at, with respect. They explicitly highlight the details you need to be aware of in order for you to maximise and help achieve your own performance goals. For me Fitzgerald always breaks down the science and explains things in an easy to understand format. Yes, there may be some light decoding but you get it, easily. As a reader you experience page after page of educational treats and if you understand the 8020-way or even if you do not Fitzgerald and Warden give you all the tools required to make and understand your own 8020 Triathlon plan! WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE!!
You know and feel the plethora of hints, tips and advice come from many years of endurance experience between the two and you can be rest assured that whether you are at beginner, intermediate or sub elite level you will learn many things as you journey through this book. I am certain that this book will remain on my bookshelf (with no dust!!) for many different reference reasons for a very long time!

this format doesn't suit this book. although the content is good. To digest it as retain it through audio is not great. buy the print version.
