Publisher's Summary

Mark Watson is generally accepted to be alive. And yet he’s died. In fact, he’s died loads of times.

On stage.

It’s embarrassing. Excruciating. But dying on stage isn’t the only death Mark’s suffered. There’s also been the death of his innocence. The death of that absolutely brilliant project that everyone told him was really amazing. And that time he died inside.

In this warm-hearted, hilarious memoir he takes you behind the scenes of a life - and many deaths - in comedy and beyond. From his early years on the circuit, to getting lost in the world of TV, Mark reveals everything: when he died and when he lived. 8 Deaths will show you that it’s not how you die that counts - it’s how you live.

Warm and Human

I have seen and enjoyed Watson live a few times, enjoyed some of his previous writing and found him engaging, warm and Human in appearances on tv and panel shows. This book reinforces that humanity, reminding us that failure is fine through the prism of his own failures.

The book has left me with a slightly wistful melancholy that he had apparently brightened my life a little at a time when perhaps his was in a darker place, but then slightly wistful melancholy is Watson's ouvre. I greatly enjoyed this offering and will satisfy myself with the thought that if he ever becomes aware of these comments it will bring him some pleasure.

It’s okay

That’s as much as I can really say about this. It’s okay. Not that funny. Not that educational. The narration is as you would expect.

Self deprecating brilliance

A well rounded unapologetically apologetic British self help guide. this book teaches you to make the most of your life however you get to the end. Funny, honest and wise words from a life of deaths, each teaching you more.

Mundane

Couldn’t finish it - thought it would be funnier to be honest, but it wasn’t. Shame
