About this listen

In July 1983, James Morgan Kane returned home in the evening to find a corpse in his living room. Fearing that he would be held responsible, and sensing that his wife was involved, he wanted to do all he could to protect his young family. Jamie worked through the night to dispose of the body. But his luck ran out days later, as he was arrested and sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Jamie entered the American prison system and was to stay there for 34 years with stints in San Quentin, Folsom State Prison and the notorious Deuel Vocational Institution in California. He would rub shoulders with some of the world's most infamous serial killers and gangs. This book tells of his time locked up with no hope of release, living the brutality of the tough and unforgiving American penitentiary system and finding his new purpose in life.

Great story

I felt the narrator had a good voice but his reading of the story was a bit strange, very stop, start. Overall I’m glad that I persevered with the narrator as it ended up being an amazing story of resilience. GB

Finished in 24 hours - could not stop listening

I really enjoyed this audiobook probably one of my favourites. The narrator did an amazing job. And the story was fascinating & well written. I went on the longest walks I had been on in years while listening to the story - it made the time fly by. It’s gonna be hard what to choose next to listen to.

This is a truely gripping story, I enjoyed every moment. The Author is a total bad arse and over came what life unfairly through at him.

Extraordinary

The horrendous events that happened to this man is so cruel and sad. i hope he has the best rest of his life with loved ones around him. I couldn't stop listening waiting for him to get the justice he deserved. Great book and well narrated.

Pretty Disappointing

Too much about his life before Jail. When you get a book like this, with the title in mind, you'd expect more from the inside. Narrator had an annoying tone about him.
