Publisher's Summary

Andy and Terry live in a 13-storey treehouse.

They've also got a new book to write, but there's a problem. A BIG problem. Well, quite a few big problems actually....

On a hill not too far away there is a tree. And in that tree there is a tree house. And in that tree house there is a bowling alley, a see-through swimming pool, a tank full of sharks, a giant rope swing, a library full of comics, a secret underground laboratory, a vegetable vaporiser and a free marshmallow-dispensing machine that follows you around and automatically shoots marshmallows into your mouth whenever you are hungry.

My 7yo autistic son loved it!

My son enjoyed this book so much. I can hear him chuckling and laughing as the reader performed all the great sound effects. He could follow the story and would tell me after each chapter. Great book, great performance. 👍

Outlandish tales make for terrific fun

I bought this book as an introduction to Audible books for my five year old and it was a hit. The chapters are short enough that they held his attention and could be stopped in stints as long or as short as we wanted and the narrator did a great job carrying all the outlandish tales that don't always follow a conventional chapter book (the story can go off into tangents and side alleys). There was heaps going on but at its heart, the story still managed to keep it simple with over the top anecdotes filled with humour that will really appeal to young to early teenage readers - I'd probably recommend this for readers that are five to around thirteen years old. Told from Andy's point of view, the chapters tell the tall tales of what goes on in the 13-story treehouse as Andy and his best friend Terry's deadline to hand in a completed story to their publisher looms. There are cats turning into catnaries, swarms of monkeys, marshmallow guns, monsters masquerading as seamonkeys and all manner of crazy mischief as the friends live in the treehouse of every kids' dreams. It was silly but heaps of fun. The narration was solid but I couldn't help but feel that the narrator was channelling Dave Hughes with a dash of surfer dude for the part of Terry Denton. Overall, a cracking introduction to the world of audio books as well as chapter books with humour.

Engaging for young listeners

My boys have always loved this audiobook series, since the age of about 2 years old.

The reader does a great job at engaging young listeners and the sound effects are brilliant. It's hard to find audiobooks of this standard for little kids. My boys often laugh out loud listening to the stories! They also repeat phrases and words, opening up a conversation about new words and concepts. It's great! Highly recommended.
