世界で初めて電子式テレビジョン実験に成功した高柳健次郎は、ブラウン管に「イ」の字を映し出し、テレビ実用化の道を切り開きました。技術者たちとの研究を通じて学んだ「チーム研究」の重要性や「十年、二十年先に役立つ技術を目指せ」という恩師の言葉、テレビジョンの研究を決意したきっかけなどを高柳健次郎本人が語ります。〔NHK教育テレビ「私の自叙伝~テレビ事始め~」1980年3月13日放送より〕-高柳健次郎(たかやなぎ けんじろう) 1899(明治32)年、静岡県生まれ。1924(大正13)年、浜松高等工業学校(現・静岡大学工学部)助教授に就任。「無線遠視法」(テレビジョン)の研究を開始。1926(大正15)年、電子式テレビジョン実験に成功。戦後、日本ビクターに入社し、テレビジョンの技術革新に尽力。1990(平成2)年、91歳で死去。テレビの父と呼ばれた。
