次男は小説家になった。
三男は、蟹よりほかにはなれなかった。
そんな三男が横ばいに歩いていると、おにぎりが落ちていた。
すると高い木の梢に猿が一匹――
芥川は最後にこう言います。
「語を天下の読者に寄す。君たちもたいてい蟹なんですよ」
