＜第一回 儒臣の本懐――菅原道真＞
菅原道真（すがわらのみちざね＝845～903）は、平安時代前期の官僚・学者。江戸時代以前において随一の詩人でもありました。学界出身の大臣として異例の昇進をとげましたが、讒言（ざんげん）によって福岡の太宰府に左遷され、その地で亡くなりました。ところがその後、道真左遷の関係者が相次いで変死をとげ、また疫病・旱（ひでり）・落雷など、天変地異が20年以上も続きます。それらは道真の怨霊（おんりょう）のたたりとして恐れられ、ついに醍醐天皇が心労のため崩ずるに至りました。これらのことから、道真はやがて天満宮天神としてまつられ、天神信仰・雷神信仰と習合して多くの説話を生みました。今日でも全国にまつられ、学問の神・書道の神として信仰を集めています。
今回はその生涯に沿って、「雪中の早衙（そうが）」、「寒早十首」其の九、「旅亭の歳日 客を招いて同（とも）に飲（いん）す」、「家書を読む」、「謫居（たくきょ）の春雪」を取り上げます。

昭和二十九年、東京生まれ。早稲田大学大学院文学研究科博士課程修了、文学博士。現在、共立女子大学国際学部教授。著書に『中国古典詩歌の手法と言語』（研文出版）『漢詩の歴史』（東方出版）『漢詩の事典』（共著、大修館書店）など。平成十九年、NHKラジオ「古典講読――漢詩」講師、平成二十年より同「漢詩をよむ」講師。©Naoto Uno 2019
