＜第十三回 同谷から成都へ＞
秦州で不慣れな風土や生活の困窮に苦しんだ杜甫一家は、かねて気候がよく、物産にも富むと聞いていた、南西部の同谷（甘粛省）に転居しました。ところが到着してみると、その同谷も寒冷で物資の乏しい土地でした。そこでわずか一ヶ月後、一家はさらに南方、蜀（四川省）の成都へ向けて旅立ちます。七言古詩「乾元（けんげん）中同谷県に寓居して作れる歌七首」其の一は、冬の夕暮れ時、身も心も衰弱してゆくつらさを嘆いたもの。
しかし成都に到着すると、知人や地元の人々の援助も受けられ、浣花渓のほとりにかやぶきの家も建てることができました。北中国の中心部と山脈によって隔てられたこの南の町は、経済状態も民心も比較的落ち着いており、自然にも恵まれていました。七言律詩「卜居」「蜀相」は、成都到着後まもなくの作。それまでと打って変わって、なごやかな詠みぶりを見せています。
