＜第五回 軟禁の日々＞
異民族出身の節度使安禄山が今の北京付近で挙兵したのは天宝14年（755）11月9日。叛乱軍は破竹の勢いで進撃し、黄河を渡り、洛陽を陥れ、翌年6月には早くも都長安に迫りました。徒歩はその一ケ月前、すでに戦局不利の報を聞き、家族を引き連れて鄜州（ふしゅう＝陝西省）へ避難し、そこの羌村（きょうそん）という村に居を定めていました。
一方、帝都陥落を悟った70歳の玄宗皇帝は要人たちとともに長安を脱出、翌月には長安西北の霊武に逃れていた皇太子の李亨（りこう）が擁立されて帝位につき、粛宗皇帝となります。新帝即位の報を聞いた杜甫は粛宗に謁見すべく、単身、鄜州から霊武へ向かいます。ところが不運にも途中で叛軍に逮捕され、長安に連行されて軟禁の生活を強いられます。
五言律詩「月夜」「雪に対す」「春望」はその軟禁の日々に、祖国の命運を憂え、家族を思い、戦局を案じ、自分の無力を嘆いているのです。
