＜第九回 世相に触れて＞
華州時代の杜甫は、親族や知友に宛てた詩も多く作っています。前回にはそのうち二首を見ましたが、今回もその系列の作、五言律詩「思ふ所」から。これは玄宗朝の著名な文人官僚、鄭虔（ていけん）に贈ったものです。杜甫は若いころから鄭虔に兄事していましたが、その鄭虔が安史の乱の一時期、叛軍から官職を授けられたためえ、南の台州（浙江省）に流罪となったのです。詩中、杜甫は鄭虔の健康を祈り、彼を救えない自分の無力を嘆いています。
つづいてこの時期の五言古詩の連作〈三吏三別〉から「石壕（せきごう）の吏」を見ます。杜甫が洛陽から華州に帰る途中、石壕村に宿泊した折の体験を実録風に詠んだもの。この宿には、男の働き手は老翁一人しかいません。三人の息子はとうに徴発され、残っているのは老いた妻と、乳飲み子をかかえた若い嫁だけ。ところがその晩、役人が老翁を徴発しに訪れたのです・・・
