Воскресенский медеплавильный завод был построен в 1734 году и к 1745 году стал одним из крупнейших промышленных предприятий России. Только за первый год на заводе выпустили более 15 тысяч пудов меди. В 1760 году на заводе было 7 медеплавильных печей, при заводе состояло 320 дворов и одна церковь. По количеству выплавляемой меди Воскресенский завод занимал первое место не только на Южном Урале, но и в России. Около четверти всей продукции отправлялось за границу. Расцвет медеплавильного завода прервало пугачевское восстание. Завод был захвачен повстанцами и на нем стали отливать пушки.
