Richard Dawkins
Dawkins is a noted advocate for secularism and atheism, and has courted controversy with his firm contempt of religion. The God Delusion, published in 2006, argues that a creator God is both improbable and an irrational theory, and that religion has inflicted grievous harm on society. The God Delusion audiobook is read by the author, Richard Dawkins, together with British actress Lalla Ward.
Other books by Dawkins include The Blind Watchmaker (1986) which received a Royal Society of Literature award, River out of Eden: A Darwinian View of Life (1995), The Ancestor’s Tale (2004), An Appetite for Wonder (2013), and The Magic of Reality (2011).
Dawkins founded the Richard Dawkins Foundation in 2006 to promote scientific literacy and a secular world view. He was born on 26 March 1941, in Kenya where his British parents were stationed during World War II (the family returned to England in 1949). Dawkins lives in England.
