Susan Smith Kuczmarski, Ed.D. is a well-known speaker and authority on leadership and the contemporary family. Trained as a cultural anthropologist, she has researched extensively how successful leaders acquire leadership skills and families become closer. She is an award-winning author of six books, three on leadership and three on families. Her pioneering book, "Values-Based Leadership," launched the values in the workplace movement. "Apples Are Square: Thinking Differently About Leadership" was selected by Fast Company Magazine as a "2007 Best Business Book." "Lifting People Up: The Power of Recognition" discusses how every leader can help others grow by tapping into the power of praise and recognition. "Becoming A Happy Family: Pathways to the Family Soul" won the prestigious Gold Medal from the 2015 IPPY Book Awards for "Best Adult Non-Fiction Informational E-Book" and an Eric Hoffer Book Award in the "E-Book Non-Fiction" category. "The Sacred Flight of the Teenager: A Parent's Guide to Stepping Back and Letting Go" and "The Family Bond: Inspiring Tips for Creating A Closer Family" both received the prestigious "Seal of Approval" award from the National Parenting Center. For more than 35 years she has conducted leadership programs for all kinds of audiences, from businesses, nonprofits, teachers, parents, even teens, to new delegates to the United Nations. She is the co-founder of Kuczmarski Innovation, an internationally recognized new products, services and innovation management consulting firm. Over the course of her career she has taught at 9 universities. For the last 10 years, she has taught in the "Creating and Leading A Culture of Innovation" program at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management. Dr. Kuczmarski believes that everyone has an "inner leader" if they want to discover and develop it. She inspires fresh perspective and innovative techniques to empower individuals and their teams to do great work. Her seminar participants discover how to nurture leadership styles that facilitate trust and team performance. They also learn the six people-oriented values--humility, compassion, transparency, inclusiveness, collaboration, and values-based decisiveness. Kuczmarski holds a Doctorate in Education and 2 master's degrees from Columbia University, where she was named an International Fellow. She is a frequent radio and television guest and has appeared on the "Today Show" and "Windy City Live." For 12 years, she has been listed in "Who's Who in the World." Her research, speaking, workshops and teaching have made her a leading expert on both leadership and issues devoted to the contemporary family.
