End of an era…but always in my heart
Nicci Harris has done it AGAIN. This book, this audiobook—I don’t even know where to start!
Performed in stunning duet narration by the best Australian voices in romance audio (and yes, I’m counting my favourite Brit Shane East in that mix, because let’s be honest, the man’s a LEGEND with accents and his Australian accent sounds so authentic), we’ve got:
Dorje Swallow as our filthy-mouthed mafia heir and champion boxer, Xander Butcher
Sofia Lette as Kaya, our messy but beautiful feminist socialite with a chip the size of Australia on her shoulder
Shane East reprising his role as Clay Butcher, the ultimate mafia Don as well as Max Butcher.., swoon!
Anthony Davis and Sia Winter in stellar supporting roles
And a brand-new voice, Renzo C., absolutely nailing the kids’ voices!
This reverse grumpy-sunshine story hit me right in the feels. Xander and Kaya? Pure chaos and magic. Their chemistry was messy, raw, and so heartfelt. And while the spice kicks in early (10% in, y’all ), Nicci delivers her signature balance of plot, action, drama, and swoony romance.
The Kids of the District series is my Roman Empire and has been a phenomenal journey, and Their Broken Legend wraps it up beautifully with so much heart and emotion. Hearing these characters come to life with this dream multicast elevated an already incredible story to another level.
I’m devastated it’s over but also thrilled we can revisit this world whenever we want. If you haven’t met the Butcher Boys yet, what are you even doing with your life? Once you go Butcher, you’ll never go back.
