Ever since returning from Vietnam, Darren has been haunted by the ghosts of his past. A chance encounter with a small-town sheriff lands him a handyman job at the local library, as well as hope that his wandering days may be over. Ana is the town librarian. She, too, is running from the past. Content to be left alone, she becomes alarmed when Darren sets off her urge to reproduce, a desire that always comes with fatal consequences.
An already difficult situation is made worse when a pair of hunters from a mysterious organization arrive in town with one goal; making sure Ana remains the last of her kind.

unique story and characters
incredibly well written and performed. a unique experience on the dynamic of a monster girl and man finding love. An unusual but fantastic time period setting

Hopefully not the last story
A lovely side story set in the same world as the Radley’s series of stories that stands alone without needing to know those stories.
The narrators hit the spot well and capture the essence of the characters nicely.

Incredibly warm and special
Honestly if not for the spice I think this would be a book I'd recommended to everyone. it's incredibly deep, and with complex characters and storytelling. Went through a real range of emotions along with the MC and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed with me. A beautiful story.
