Publisher's Summary

Dr. Trisha Norbit is flat on her back in a hospital bed, pinned under a really big New Species male. Though drugged out of his mind, he promises her ecstasy and is determined to deliver - but hospital staff intervenes. 215 is a man Trisha will never forget. But, when she meets him again at Homeland... he doesn’t even remember her!

The nosy new doctor wants to know all about the breeding habits between humans and Species. Slade proposes a hands-on education but she’s not interested in a one-night stand. He can’t offer more because he’s haunted by the memory of a woman he once tried to claim. He’s shocked when he realizes they are one and the same. He's blown it - she’ll never give him a chance now.

But, when her life is in danger, he’s the only one who can save her. As they flee through the wilderness, their desire ignites and cannot be denied. Hot sex, on the run, has consequences that are even more dangerous and will change their lives forever.

Reader Advisory: There is a scene of an attempted rape.

Editorial reviews

This "New Species" erotic romance by best-selling author Laurann Dohner features Trisha Norbit, a self-assured, smart-beyond-her-years doctor. Aroused to the brink by a patient whose life she saves, she changes the entire course of her life as a victim of her own lust only to survive life-on-the-run as the object of love for a wayward pharmaceutical company’s experiment that resulted in someone mostly man, but part animal as well. Vanessa Chambers, by turns stern, humorous, and passionate, narrates a tale of yearning for the "forbidden fruit" that once ignited is almost impossible to contain.

Excellent

Dr. Tricia Norbert first meets Slade after he is rescued from the facility he was being held and experimented on as a lab rat and known as subject 215 and is rushed into her E.R. During his recovery a delirious Slade grabs Tricia and pins her under him in his hospital bed telling her all the dirty things he wants to do to her until he is sedated. Her interest is peaked and she applies to work with New Species at Homeland, the converted army base they are gifted after they are rescued and she gets the job. Slade doesn’t recognise her and is very rude and grude to her until she snaps and verbally abuses him back and he realises she is the woman he has been fantasising about. From there things are really intense between the two and go to another level when they are attacked and must fight for their lives. Slade’s foot in mouth disease isn’t finished with however and he just might loose the woman he loves. It’s an intense ride of a book full of action, laugh out loud situations, racists bent on destruction and a scorching hot sexual interaction between the two and I highly recommend it and the series as a whole.

...... and it has an interesting story line too!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book revolves around Slade's finding of his mate while still introducing some more amazing characters and continuing a little with Fury and Elle's story.
It has a good story line and allows you to go off into a fantasy world and forget about what is happening around you.
The interaction between the characters is really good - particularly the males. I had a good laugh during sections of the book.

What other book might you compare Slade to, and why?

I have read many breed novels and Slade's story is similar to many of them. There are important differences though - in how they met, what mistakes both sides made, how their story will combine with others in the series.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

There were many scenes that I really enjoyed in this book. The one I really laughed through was Slade's and Brawn's interaction at the end of the book. I don't want to give away the ending and telling would definitely affect the listeners enjoyment.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I found it very confronting how the 'mountain men' spoke about the New Species and their willingness to just kill anyone around - particularly the young driver who was shot and tortured by them even though he was human.

Any additional comments?

This book is definitely worth a listen.

Fabulous

Great follow to Fury but stands alone as well. Great story and characters. Does not rely on lazy romantic tropes. Reliable author. Highly recommended. Personal choice would prefer male and female performers
