About this listen
Enki Zakanin just wants peace and quiet. He's completed his mission, and on the journey back to the Kordolian Fleet Station, he'd prefer to be left alone so he can manage the literal demon inside his head. Alone.
So when a strange distress call breaks the silence, his first instinct is to ignore the signal. Why would anyone be foolish enough to broadcast an open signal in the Ninth?
My name is Layla dela Cruz. I need your help.
A human? What in Kaiin's Hells is she doing this far into Sector Nine? Now, somehow, he has to go and get her. After all, he's given her his word.
Contains mature themes.

Really Good
The second instalment in the Darkstar Mercenaries is all about Enki Zakanin and Layla dela Cruz and it all starts with a distress call from Layla who is stuck in a pod after the ship she was on is destroyed and from there the action begins albeit reluctantly by Enki who just wants to alone to deal with the literal demon inside his head but, he has given his word that he would come and rescue this human stuck in the ninth sector of all places and just to complicate things there are other Kordolians in this sector and they get to Leyla first and the action is fast paced and plain surprising at times from there. i highly recommend this audio book and the series as a whole.

almost the same as previous book but different
I thought to start off with we were going to have the same storyline as Torin and Persephone but there was only a short part of the book with that type of drama and the rest took on A personality of it's own.
once again we see recent characters from other books pop in and this time it was Abby.
I really enjoyed the way Ms carven found the way to change up the story and add a bit more difficulty into the mix in regards to the hero.
heroine was a very understanding woman but we were reminded of it time after time..in different ways of course that she'd been through the worst and the attractions she felt couldn't be denied. almost a Stockholm Syndrome example but not really.
J F Harding did an ok job with this book too. when he was talking of previous heroines in the different series he did make different pronunciations and that kind of threw me a little but I had experienced it once before so I kind of expected it. I see there's lots more of Ms carvens book out there but they haven't been converted into audible yet so I'll just have to wait😔😔😔 but I do have one more to go...

Excellent
I keep thinking Anna carven can’t possibly write another intriguing, different story, and she keeps proving me wrong. Despite the similar theme running through all this series, each book is very unique from the others!

Pre-ordered and not disappointed!
I love Anna Carven’s writing and I’m really happy with the narrator choice for the Dark Star mercenaries.
